Audrey Dalton ... Annette Sturges
Brian Aherne ... Captain E. J. Smith
Harper Carter ... Norman Sturges (uncredited)

Plot

Everyone knows about the story of the great cruise liner Titanic making her way across the ocean and hitting an iceberg that brought her down. This is the story of a family trying to figure out what to do with their lives, dealing with infidelity and conflict of opinion between mother and father, while on the Titanic. When the ship hits the iceberg, however, everything changes. Can they come to a conclusion? Will they come together during this tragedy? Who will survive?

Rating Criteria
0/5 – No value whatsoever. Absolute waste of time.
1/5 – Barely worth any time.
2/5 – Pathetic but has a bit of something to hold the attention a little.
3/5 – Somewhat kept the attention but could definitely have used more.
4/5 – Good, but not awe-strikingly amazing. Could have maybe used a bit more to the movie.
5/5 – Go see it! Wonderful movie all around. – characters, music, theme, story line, etc.

3.5/5 - A better plot line and more relatable than the 1997 "Titanic" movie with DiCaprio. At times it was hard to watch because it was in black and white but the acting was good. The story was good. It was good to see them come to a conclusion between the husband and wife but it was sad to see the father and son (though not his) stay behind. The tragedy of the Titanic's sinking will always hit hard to me because there was such a loss of life but I think that this version of the story, especially since it was closer to the time that the actual incident occurred, is a fair representation of what happened. It wasn't sugar-coated, with a pastor actually running into the boiler area where the workers were going to be trapped.

For those that are interested in the Titanic and the stuff regarding the disastrous fate it succumbed to, I would recommend this. If you don't like black and white movies, you might want to pass. Aside that, I would recommend this movie.

That's my movie review. Thanks for reading! More reviews to come eventually.

Classic Movie Review: "My Fair Lady" 10/21/64

This is a movie review for "My Fair Lady", first premiered October 21, 1964 in New York City, New York (USA). I have watched this movie multiple times over the years (hence "classic" movie review).

Genre: Drama, Family, Musical
Run Time: 2 Hours 50 Minutes

Official MPAA Rating (According to IMDB.com):
G / General Audiences
PG / Parental Guidance Suggested
PG-13 / Parents Strongly Cautioned

Notable Cast

Audrey Hepburn ... Eliza Doolittle
Rex Harrison ... Professor Henry Higgins
Stanley Holloway ... Alfred P. Doolittle
Wilfrid Hyde-White ... Colonel Hugh Pickering
Gladys Cooper ... Mrs. Higgins
Jeremy Brett ... Freddy Eynsford-Hill
Theodore Bikel ... Zoltan Karpathy
Mona Washbourne ... Mrs. Pearce

Plot

Professor Henry Higgins and Colonel Hugh Pickering are linguistic heavy-weights. They've been to many places and talked with many people. They love language. When Pickering said that Higgins could not take a common flower-selling girl off of the street and straighten her language, Higgins took the challenge and said that he'd have her "speaking like a queen at the ball!". What kind of things must they go through? Can she learn how to speak properly?

1/5 – Barely worth any time.

4/5 - *SPOILERS*

Eliza trying to act properly at the horse races:

I love how Eliza really stands up for herself because she should get acknowledgement of her work for acting like a lady at the ball and the Professor's mother agrees with her. If she hadn't done the work to learn how to speak, Professor Higgins' task would have failed. To have him treat her merely as a "test subject" and not giving her credit, though she is a female, is just not right. So this song "Without You" really bolsters her up in my mind:

Why Eliza returned to the Professor at the end: I think she had a fondness for him but aside that, I could not understand why at all especially considering he had constantly been a bother to her the whole time she had been studying with him. One of his last sentences in the movie is not "I'm glad you're back" but "Have you seen my slippers?". Like seriously, we're not going to talk about the fact that you were treating her terribly and now she's back? We're not going to talk about the fact that you two have some sort of connection....?  This is the main thing that made me downgrade this movie because there was not a conclusion at the end about how their relationship stood.

Though I am upset at the ending of the movie, I must say this is still one of my most favorite musicals that I have grown up with (including "Camelot", "Oklahoma", etc). I would recommend this movie to those that like musicals, because the songs are fantastic and the movie would be nothing without the music. Otherwise, feel free to stay away from the movie if you're against older movies and musicals; you'd be missing out if you did stay away from them, in my honest opinion!

Anyways, that's my movie review. Thanks for reading! More reviews to come eventually.

Plot

There's a fireworks display happening tonight and Nazuna wants to go see them with someone (maybe Yusuke or maybe Norimichi). She also wants to run away because she doesn't want to leave the area with her mother and her mother's boyfriend/new partner. Norimichi finds a way to reverse the day multiple times to change a choice and see how that plays out. Is there a way for him to help Nazuna run away and be happy together? How many different choices do they need to make to succeed? And, from the side, are fireworks flat or are they round....?

4/5 - Interesting concept of time travel and how to fix mistakes during the day. The way the worlds distorted or were altered is intriguing too as it almost makes one want to wonder if Norimichi's wishes were messing the world up. The ending is open to the point of wondering what happened to Nazuma and Norimichi and if they were dating or did the day start over again or what. Good movie but needs more to it for a 5/5.

Those that aren't interested in time travel would not like this movie, I think, as that is the main focus of the movie.

That's my movie review. Thanks for reading! More reviews to come eventually.

Sorry, I couldn't find a YouTube trailer for this movie that had good English subtitles. But this trailer fits right with the movie.

Hana Sugisaki ... Rukia Kuchiki
Ryô Yoshizawa ... Uryû Ishida
Erina Mano ... Orihime Inoue
Yû Koyanagi ... Yasutora Sado

Plot

Ichigo, a high schooler, is just trying to live his life. He lost his mother years ago and his family has never been the same since. It is just his father, himself, and his two younger sisters. Oh, and the fact that Ichigo has the uncanny ability to converse with souls that have not passed on from this life after death...

One day, a female named Rukia appears and tells him that he has a lot of spiritual energy. They are attacked by a very powerful Hollow (a monstrous ghost that if not defeated and purified, will consume other souls). Rukia is unable to continue fighting the Hollow but she knows that Ichigo has a lot of spiritual power so she gives him the ability to be a Soul Reaper in her place so that they can both survive the Hollow's attack. Now that Ichigo has the Soul Reaper ability, Rukia cannot return to her world without the ability. Ichigo has to train to become a stronger Soul Reaper or the transference of the ability to Rukia might kill him. Other challenges are in front of the two of them but the main question is whether Ichigo can survive and strengthen well enough to get the ability back to Rukia.

4.5/5 - It has been a while since I have watched the Bleach anime but I was excited to watch the movie. I had seen some of the show and knew the concepts behind it but this movie did well as a stand-alone movie. I can tell that the movie is not strictly according to the anime (Ichigo's mom being killed by the Grand Fisher so "that's another reason for me to fight it"; I don't recall him having sisters in the anime; I am pretty sure he didn't see ghosts in the anime before becoming a Soul Reaper; thank goodness the stuffed animal Kon was not in the movie because that would have been super annoying).

For a stand-alone movie, this was wonderful and the ending made me want to say "Give me a second movie!" (or let me watch the anime, which a live action movie should do). Highly recommended for those that are not looking for a movie that is strictly stuck on anime canon. And for those that love the show, let me know what you thought of this movie; I would love to hear your opinions!

Oh, and I watched this in Japanese with English subtitles. If you're not a fan of subtitles, then you might be out of luck with this one.

That's my movie review. Thanks for reading! More reviews to come eventually.
