0/5 – No value whatsoever. Absolute waste of time.
1/5 – Barely worth any time.
2/5 – Pathetic but has a bit of something to hold the attention a little.
3/5 – Somewhat kept the attention but could definitely have used more.
4/5 – Good, but not awe-strikingly amazing. Could have maybe used a bit more to the movie.
5/5 – Go see it! Wonderful movie all around. – characters, music, theme, story line, etc.

4/5 - *SPOILERS* NOT FOR SQUEAMISH PEOPLE!!

Simplistic plotline: sci-fi prison escape movie. I think it was well done though very simple. The mathematics needed to figure out if a room was trapped or not and how to get out (permutations) was very cool. It was also pretty awesome how almost everyone had something to offer to the puzzle - the math whiz, the handicap guy with a thing for factors, etc - or had some other connection. The question as to why everyone was in the cube was not really answered but it did show how some people will turn more good or more malevolent when under stress.

I have watched it once more since the original viewing and I still enjoy it. It is as horrific as Saw with such underlining reasoning as Saw does. It really is a study on how humans react in stressful situations but also a tribute to mathematics. The graphics for the traps are awesome. There were sound activated traps, motion sensor traps, heat sensor traps, etc. Acid, razor wires, stabbing metal, etc. As a Saw fan, I loved this part of the movie so much though people could not survive the traps like the Saw traps and could not learn from it.

Here is Rennes with the acid trap:

Anyways, I would watch this movie again, for sure. I think it is below the Saw franchise (especially the first 3) but it is a good horror movie in my opinion.

That's my movie review! Thanks for reading. More reviews are to come eventually so keep an eye out.

Movie Review: "The Other Man" 09/07/08 CAN

This is my movie review for "The Other Man", first released at the Toronto International Film Festival (Canada) on September 7, 2008. I watched this for the first time on June 19, 2019 via Hulu and have rewatched it once since then (between that date and 4/18/2020).

Genre:  Drama, Mystery, Thriller
Run Time: 1 Hour and 28 Minutes

Trailer

Notable Cast

Laura Linney ... Lisa
Antonio Banderas ... Rafe
Liam Neeson ... Peter
Romola Garai ... Abigail

Plot

A fashion designer (known especially for her shoes?) named Lisa is married to a man named Peter and they have a daughter named Abigail. Having asked Peter once if there was ever a wish to make love with another, Peter wonders (after he loses her) if she was cheating on him. We do not get the details into what happened to her but, after the first few minutes, we do not see her so we wonder if she is with another man instead of with him. Peter thinks the same thing and starts to search for this other man, fueled by potential need for revenge or justice. Will he find this other man? If he does, what will he find and what will he do?

3.5/5 - *SPOILERS* This movie is not what it seems to be and one of the trailers (see here) is horrible in the fact that it deceives you further. The plot twist at the end redefines the whole movie because, especially for the first time viewing, you think that she has been cheating and is with Ralph/Rafe but in reality she has died already. Peter might not have been searching to find the other man because he wanted to make him suffer but to let him know that Lisa had died from cancer. It is hard to tell what the motive was for Peter but when you watch it a second time knowing that Lisa is already dead, it really changes the way you watch the movie and gives deeper meaning to the story.

Lisa had stuck with her husband Peter through everything because she loved him and was married to him but she had still loved Ralph/Rafe - one woman, two men. And it seems Peter didn't find out until she was on her deathbed or after she had passed away. Does that lessen their relationship and the life that they had together? No. It proves that there are people out there that can love more than one without making the love for one less.

Good connection between the daughter Abigail and the father Peter at the end of the movie after he came to terms that Rafe had been a good person that made his wife's life better. This was a big tear jerker, making me cry even as I remember the movie. I definitely recommend this but some people might have issues with the fact that Lisa had had a second love while still married to her husband.

My original score was 3.5/5 and I was going to upgrade it to 4/5 but the fact that the trailer and how ambiguous the movie was makes me keep the score at 3.5/5, but it is a very good movie. I would be up to watching it again though it definitely makes me cry.

That's my movie review. Thank you for reading. More reviews to come eventually.

Movie Review: 'The Resident" 03/11/11 UK

This is my movie review for "The Resident", released March 11, 2011 in the UK. I watched this via Hulu on June 18, 2019.

Genre: Drama, Horror, Mystery
Run Time: 1 Hour and 31 Minutes

Trailer

Notable Cast

Hilary Swank ... Dr. Juliet Devereau
Jeffrey Dean Morgan ... Max
Lee Pace ... Jack
Christopher Lee ... August

Plot

Juliet is a doctor in an ER in New York and needs to find herself a place to stay after something wrong happened with her ex Jack (he cheated?). She finds a wonderful apartment for a "steal" price. As she tries to recover from what happened with Jack, she finds herself attracted to her landlord Max (whom lives downstairs with his grandfather). Juliet tries to figure out whom she wants to be with (Jack or Max) but also starts feeling suspicious that someone is watching her at home. She sets up a surveillance system and discovers a dark truth. Who can she trust? Will it get worse than just peeping and, if so, how will she get through it?

3/5 - *SPOILERS* Interesting idea about a stalker landlord (what is with him going in through the walls?) but bland. Landlord is dead at the end of the movie, after a "fight to the death" battle somehow brought on by Juliet trying to get back with Jack, but there seems to be no consequences or "wtf now" summary for Juliet's life. The ending was definitely lacking a lot but that's okay.

I would personally not really want to watch this again, but if you want to watch it, go for it. The 'space in the walls' thing really upset me because it seemed like it was being set up just for stalking, so it wasn't a spur of the moment thing, though it was probably supposed to be "old and therefore that's normal". Excuse me but creepy and therefore downgraded for it.

Anyways, that's my review. Thanks for reading! More reviews are to come eventually.

Movie Review: "Aliens in Egypt" 2016

This is my movie review for "Aliens in Egypt", released in 2016.

Genre: Documentary
Run Time: 1 hour and 2 minutes.

Plot

From IMDB.com :
The Pyramids are the most epic monuments the world has ever seen, but the mystery of the true origins of these gargantuan edifices remains an enigma. Who really built these ancient megalithic structures and why were pyramids built in strategic locations all around the globe, and then at a later date mysteriously abandoned seemingly overnight? In this space age, with its remarkable technological engineering and scientific advances, it is unfathomable that the construction of the pyramids and other amazing works of the ancient world could not be duplicated. New evidence of highly advanced, precision machining on Egypt's Giza plateau gives credence to the Ancient Alien hypothesis. This is further supported by glyphs of futuristic vehicles, bizarre flywheels and other artifacts and monuments cut with laser precision.

3.5/5 - Interesting points but not that attention-capturing.

That one line sentence was all I had to say when I watched it and I can't even find trailers or clips from it so I don't know anymore. It has been about 10 months since I watched it and I don't remember it well enough to say more. In other words, it wasn't spectacular though I would be interested in looking more into this topic of ancient aliens. How crazy would it be if humans were transplanted/planted here by an "alien" race? That's just something to think on, even if you don't believe in the theory that Stargate SG-1 believes in with the Goa'uld taking humans from Earth and spreading them amongst the stars or that the pyramids were landing platforms for their ships.

Anyways, that's my review (though barely one). Thanks for reading! More reviews are to come so keep an eye out.

Movie Review: "Magic Mike XXL" 7/01/15

This is my movie review for "Magic Mike XXL", released July 1, 2015. I watched this movie in June of 2019.

Genre: Comedy, Drama, Music
Run Time: 1 hour and 55 minutes

Trailer

(Noteable) Cast

Channing Tatum ... Mike
Joe Manganiello ... Big Dick Richie
Kevin Nash ... Tarzan
Gabriel Iglesias ... Tobias
Matt Bomer ... Ken
Adam Rodriguez ... Tito
Amber Heard ... Zoe

Plot

It has been 3 years since "Magic Mike". Dallas, owner of the club where the Kings of Tampa danced, has gone international with The Kid. The rest of the troupe has one last dream: dance for the yearly male strippers convention. Can they get Mike to come along though he has "succeeded" in getting a new life with Brooke, or so they thought?

Unfortunately, Brooke rejected Mike and he lost that "dream life" that he wanted, so why not go on a road trip? So the Kings of Tampa troupe are going on a road trip, starting to see the end of their male entertainment career ending and looking towards the future. What can go wrong? Will they make it to the convention and can they enter? What will they do to make this "final performance" one to remember?

5/5 – Go see it! Wonderful movie all around. – characters, music, theme, story line, etc.

3.5/5 - *SPOILERS* *STROBE warning!*
Honestly, if you don't like road trip movies, you won't like this movie. If you don't like male entertainers, you won't like this movie. If you don't like dancing, get out of here because you DEFINITELY won't like this movie.

Better story line that then first film, in my opinion, but it was sad that Brooke left him even though he had been out of the entertainment industry, had his own company, his own place, etc. It was a bit sad because the guys are aging and male stripper jobs are for younger men, but it was good to have a good "final last thing" before they moved on and it was good to see them all have dreams (which pulled into their own last dance).

On the road, they run into a group of people at a club. One of these folks is a gal named Zoe. For some reason, I don't remember what, she is a bit sour/bland. Since Mike is no longer with Brooke, it is just the perfect person for him to start working his magic on to make her feel better. And, when they end up at her mom's huge house and the gals are flirting with the troupe.... Zoe's mom hooks up with Big Dick Ritchie (wow, she took the whole cock that night, he says to the gang, which most women don't because it is soooo big) and since they just busted their van up, she loans them her ex's car [talk about trusting!].

Good dance scene by Magic Mike, closer to the beginning of the movie:

Making the cashier smile was the best scene of the movie. This is a moment where the guys are going into character development - can we make our own acts instead of using our old acts that we used under Dallas' reign?

So here's the ending of the movie. These are probably not in order but...

Tarzan's last performance, much more sophisticated than what he did under Dallas' reign but not very erotic:

Ken's last performance, though not erotic it really does show his sensitive side:

I didn't really like Ritchie's dance but the singer's voice is hot.

Tito's performance:

And the last dance of the movie, bringing in Zoe again. Yeah, let's make her less uptight somehow. Why not dance over her.....? I think that the choreography of this dance is amazing but this dance overshadows the other dances, which is why I had to bring the other guys' performances into the review because each of the guys deserve their own spotlight.

Anyways, the movie was pretty good. The character development was fairly good as all of them started to think for themselves (regarding their performances and what they wanted to do with life after being a male entertainer). Zoe was not much to be seen but at least she definitely did have a smile on after the last dance with Mike, but I hope Mike isn't just trying to find the next Brooke-wannabe. In my opinion, he needs to move on without having to be tied to such women but that's just me.

There is no drug reference/abuse here so a huge step above the first movie.

Well, that is my movie review. I don't know what else to say about it. :-P

Thanks for reading! More movie reviews will come later so keep an eye out for them.

3.5/5 - Downgraded for drugs, Ken saying his wife was okay to be touched by Adam (when they were all high), and Adam's character degrading over the course of the movie but it was very cute how Mike got to know Brooke and how they got together at the very end. It is an interesting movie and I would watch it again, especially to watch how the guys dance ;-) .

Dance scenes, but not all (warning for some strobe lights; 2nd dance is awesome as Magic Mike):

If you're not into the mostly-naked male physique, this wouldn't be a movie for you. But definitely NOT a kids movie, so don't show to younger kids or impressionable young adults (especially since it promotes drugs and strippers).

Anyways, that's my review. Thank you for reading. There will be more in the future so keep an eye out for them.

Movie Review: "Interview with the Vampire" 11/11/94

This is a movie review for "Interview with the Vampire", released November 11, 1994. I watched this on May 30, 2019 via a VHS tape.

Genre: Drama, Horror
Run Time: 2 Hours 3 Minutes

Trailer

(Main) Cast

Brad Pitt ... Louis
Christian Slater ... Malloy
Tom Cruise ... Lestat
Kirsten Dunst ... Claudia
Antonio Banderas ... Armand

Plot

The life of a vampire is "sexy", supposedly, right? Well, a vampire that has lived for a long time wants to let a reporter know that the life of the vampire is not so glamorous all of the time. There can be major drawbacks - cannot age (which sucks if you were turned when you were prepubescent), you cannot have a life with a mortal as they will age and you won't, you have to move and reinvent yourself, etc.

As Louis tells his story about his life with Lestat and Claudia, the main thing we have to wonder is will he stay bitter forever or is there a way for him to "have a peaceful existence"?

3/5 - This movie barely kept my attention. It was an interesting take on vampires (especially with regrowing hair immediately, the girl going insane because she could never grow up, and Lestat never dying though I thought he should have with the dead blood), but not that great of a movie. If it hadn't been for the interruptions from the interview, it would have been better, in my opinion.

That's my review. I would personally not like to watch this again but you can go ahead and try it yourself since everybody's personal preferences are different. Thanks for reading. More reviews will come eventually!
