Life... and Job Hunting

Here's a quick blurb about life and what it's like (esp. with job hunting):

It's tough.

Lost my job suddenly on Monday (after working 8 hours).  Applied to at least 10 places today -Tuesday-.  Have two interviews for temp positions tomorrow -Wednesday- and one on Thursday.  We'll see how it goes.  Yay.

A much required update from "moi"

So it's been quite a while since I last posted something up here under this blog.  A lot has happened since then (last being Sunday Oct. 16, 2011).  Let's sum it up:

- Finished my Associate's degree Sept. 22, 2011.  YAY!

- Moved out of my parents Sept. 24, 2011 - I live in a townhouse, renting out 1 of 3 rooms (my landlady being in the master suite down the "hall").

- I finished a temporary job in downtown St. Paul at the beginning of September.

- I started a temporary job in downtown Minneapolis at the end of September.  I am putting in about 42 hours of work weekly.

- I actually have been able to ride the public bus.  I know that I had a phobia of it for forever, especially down in Costa Rica. However, it's not bad.  It's much cheaper than driving my car to and from work, paying for gas, and paying for parking.  What would you prefer - roughly $30 to maintain, feed and park a car daily or $6 to catch the bus?  Bus, no doubt.

- November is "National Novel Writing Month" [NaNoWriMo] and so I am trying to write a story.  The goal is 1,667 words daily but I don't get that daily so that's why I'm at 11,427 (whereas the goal is 23,333 to reach by the end of the day).  I'm working on trying to write more but it seems that no matter what I do, I only write 2,000 words a day maximum [especially when I have 8+ hours of work during the week and when I have my boyfriend over on the weekends].  Oh well... It's fun to write.  See "Fantasy or Reality" blog to read the first 2,401 words of the story I'm working on.  {Yes, "and one" words.  lol!}
My NaNoWriMo profile.

- I've lost maybe 5 pounds lately, thanks to a limited food supply and walking about .5 miles daily (from car to bus stop, from bus stop to work, from work to bus stop, from bus stop to car).  The largest stretch that I walk is the "from bus stop to work" which is like 2 blocks.  Not too far but something.

Well, that pretty much describes my life.  It's crazy and it's sometimes overwhelming but hey.  Such be life, especially for a person who is trying to learn how to be independent.

Please check out that first section of my story right here.  :-D

Love ya'll much!
