May 2022 Update

It has been many months since I have posted any posts up here on my blog or really any posts on Twitter or Facebook, so I figured I would post up an update.

As far as being "socially active", I really dislike Facebook and mostly keep it for the rare occasion that I want to keep in touch with someone or peruse whatever people might be posting. This may happen once every three months or so. For Twitter, I had quit my hashtags that I had been running because I just didn't have the zest for them anymore. I still visit Twitter occasionally for information or giggles but, during the time of the pandemic, people have just been getting ridiculous (everywhere, not just social media exclusive).

After injuring my knee back in January 2019 and fighting worker's compensation, I was looking forward to recovering and getting back to normal. Of course, everything went to hell when this pandemic started. I had fights with nurses about masking up as I was struggling to walk with my cane and injured knee, along with other people bickering for needless shit. I ended up deciding in 2020/2021 that I would recover on my own, without the use of a surgery if at all possible.

In the summer of 2021, I sought out another physical therapist. He seemed to be reasonable and supportive. Though my knee hurt, I worked on strengthening it up. I retired my knee brace in the summer of 2021 and retired my cane in the autumn of 2021. In September 2021, I got a job working in a hotel.

There have been difficulties with the hotel job since I started it but most issues have been resolved. I still have issues with my knee at work, especially with standing for extended periods of time. In the last few weeks, the pain level has increased because of a miscommunication issue about the chair behind the front desk (which has been taken away and should be replaced hopefully soon).

Another big issue lately has been the cost of fuel. Excuse me, but why does the cost keep rising? How is anyone supposed to make a living when there's so many living costs going up?
I've debated on changing jobs, houses or even states but nothing is set in stone as of now. We're managing to survive and that's all that matters.

In the last three years, we've added to our little family. It is now me, my husband, a long-term roommate (like a sibling to both of us), Dobby (now 7!), Stitch (now 5!), Norbert the guinea pig (about 1 year old), and a mouse named Junior (Idk the age). Norbert was a surprise to me last year as my husband asked if I wanted a hamster or mouse or guinea pig. We ended up with the guinea pig. He is named after Norbert the dragon from Harry Potter ("What if the other dragons pick on him?" Norbert the guinea pig had been picked on by the others at the pet store, hence the name.). He's noisy and messy but he's fun to love.
As far as what else I'm doing with my life, there's not much to say. I'm currently listening to the audio book of "Emma" by Jane Austen. I'm currently reading "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" by J.K. Rowling. I'm currently watching some anime shows and have been picking up some Spanish-speaking shows ("Money Heist"/"La Casa de Papel"). I definitely am behind on posting movie/book reviews because my energy level after working 5 days a week (with long commutes) is just tapped... 🤷‍♀️

I also must say that another reason I haven't been posting reviews is the fact that I cannot find how to monetize it. I know, it is minimal but I would like to be recognized, especially since I usually get 0 comments on the posts.

Anyways, that's the best I can do to update everyone. Be safe out there. 💕
