Movie Review: "Warm Bodies" 02/01/13

This is a movie review for "Warm Bodies", released February 01, 2013. I watched this via one of the free streaming channels on my Roku on 2/7/19.

Trailer

Cast

Nicholas Hoult                            R
Teresa Palmer Julie
Analeigh Tipton Nora
Rob Corddry M
Dave Franco Perry
John Malkovich Grigio

Plot

The world is inundated with zombies. We are never really told how it happened but this is normal life. Of course, the story is from the perspective of the zombie, so that's awesome. How does R (a zombie) deal with life, wandering around the airport as a listless character and sometimes into the city to see if they can find something (human) to eat? When he goes on a raid with some other zombies to the city, they come across a human party searching for medicine and supplies. The zombies attack and, after R eats some of one of the humans, finds that he has some feeling for one of the girls - Julie. Could this be a real emotional thing or just a digestion thing? Could a zombie love a human? Can a human love a zombie? Can the disease of being a zombie be cured?

Rating Criteria

0/5 – No value whatsoever. Absolute waste of time.
1/5 – Barely worth any time.
2/5 – Pathetic but has a bit of something to hold the attention a little.
3/5 – Somewhat kept the attention but could definitely have used more.
4/5 – Good, but not awe-strikingly amazing. Could have maybe used a bit more to the movie.
5/5 – Go see it! Wonderful movie all around. – characters, music, theme, story line, etc.

4/5 - This is one of my most favorite zombie movies ever (right up there with "Shaun of the Dead", "Resident Evil", and "Ahh! Zombies!!"/"Wasting Away"). "Ahh! Zombies!!" is also a zombie's perspective movie that I recommend. Anyways, I loved the fact that this is from the perspective of the zombie because most zombie movies are from the humans' perspective. Another wonderful thing that this movie gave is the fact that they played with romance/love/care to heal/cure the zombie disease - being a zombie is not permanent. The cure was sappy but it was still good. I liked how they both missed each other after she left and how they both apologized when they reunited.

Of course, the whole "Boneys" thing was creepy because wtf did they just rip off all of their skin and their eye balls? How do they keep their innards in when their skin is gone, or did they just leave the skin on their core there so that their innards don't fall out?

The biggest downgrade that I have for this movie is the fact that Julie's dad (Grigio, a military-esque leader) shot R and they didn't explain if R would have died because it looked like a to-the-heart kill-shot. If he was alive and shot through the heart, he would have died. Logic, please. Also, dad was a jerk for still shooting him though his daughter was trying to tell him that he was recovering from being a zombie.

I also downgraded for the dad's reaction because I see so many people like this that even if there is something important to learn, they still don't change their mind/ways.

I do recommend this movie, especially for zombie movie lovers! The romance was unexpected for me but it was well played.

3.5/5 - The movie was pretty good but not all of it was very amusing to me. It was good to see the Muppets, though, so that's how it managed to stay above 3. Oh, and the Chef was awesome as always. Sorry, no cheats or views into the jokes.

That's my review. Thanks for reading. More reviews to come.

However, the woman has died and someone unexpected has come back to save the baby girl - her grandfather (Milton) that had previously died and came back from hell to save her and to exact revenge. Who will win: the cult leader or the angry grandfather? Will the baby girl survive?

3/5 - The plot was very simplistic - revenge driven Milton, someone (The Accountant) coming out from hell to bring Milton back, a crazy cult leader Jonah King, and the girl that gets caught in the mix (Piper). The movie lost my attention especially with the lack of emotion from Nicholas Cage and because the movie was so simplistic. Sure, the 3D version might be better but that's that. I wouldn't recommend this movie.
