Movie Review - "Mission: Impossible" 05/22/1996

As "Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol" came out in December 2011, I have decided to watch the MI movies before watching Ghost Protocol [and watch the more recent Rogue Nation]. This is a review for "Mission: Impossible", released on May 22, 1996.

Trailer:

Plotline:
Tom Cruise plays Agent Ethan Hunt. He is a spy on a team with a few other spies. Their mission, should their leader chose to accept it, is to catch a man who is stealing the NOC list (the list that has the real name and the undercover name of the agents). Plot twist *SPOILERS*: The mission that their team is on is actually an operation to figure out who the mole is in the agency. Ethan, survivor of the original mission, now has to find out who the mole is and how to catch him/her, all while being a disavowed agent. So now his mission is impossible and it is the only way to go to prove that he is not the mole.

Character Development / Relationships:
This doesn't seem to be much of a relationship/character developing movie since it is an action-packed quick-sequence movie. There is a relationship question about Ethan and one of the supposed dead women from his team, but they do not seem to go any further than work together. Ethan probably doesn't go for the lady because she was the wife of the team's leader, though *SPOILERS* someone does say that she thought she could fool him with only her looks. [Seriously, why do we have to try to use the female to trick the main character?!]

Music:
The music for this movie is well known, at least for the Mission Impossible theme. Aside that, I didn't really notice other music. Very great theme!

Criteria:
0/5 – No value whatsoever. Absolute waste of time.
1/5 – Barely worth any time.
2/5 – Pathetic but has a bit of something to hold the attention a little.
3/5 – Somewhat kept the attention but could definitely have used more.
4/5 – Good, but not awe-strikingly amazing. Could have maybe used a bit more to the movie.
5/5 – Go see it! Wonderful movie all around – characters, music, theme, storyline, etc.

Honestly, this movie could have used more but for the action-packed sequences, it wasn't that bad. I suggest it but I personally don't think that this is high on the "to watch again" list. 4/5
