Movie Review - "Cape Fear" 11/15/1991

This is a movie review for the movie "Cape Fear", released November 15, 1991. We bought this movie on DVD because of Robert DeNiro.

Trailer

Cast
Robert De Niro ... Max Cady
Nick Nolte ... Sam Bowden
Jessica Lange ... Leigh Bowden
Juliette Lewis ... Danielle Bowden

Plot
A lawyer by the name of Sam Bowden enjoys his busy life with his wife (Leigh) and his daughter (Danielle). However, someone reenters his life that he was not expecting - an ex-convict (Max Cady) who just made bail and whom is looking for revenge. Whether this ex deserves his sentence, it doesn't matter to him. All he is looking for is revenge. It gets more intense as Cady starts to integrate himself into the Bowden family's life. Can they survive Cady's vengeful attacks? Is he just a mad man or does he have justice on his side?

Rating Criteria
0/5 – No value whatsoever. Absolute waste of time.
1/5 – Barely worth any time.
2/5 – Pathetic but has a bit of something to hold the attention a little.
3/5 – Somewhat kept the attention but could definitely have used more.
4/5 – Good, but not awe-strikingly amazing. Could have maybe used a bit more to the movie.
5/5 – Go see it! Wonderful movie all around – characters, music, theme, story line, etc.

2.5/5 - For a DeNiro movie, this rather sucked. The character of Cady seemed to be all over the place and unorganized. So he is looking for revenge, but why does he do what he does? It just makes no sense to me. But then again, maybe that's the point since he is a ex-convict.

I personally would not recommend this movie. It kept attention but was pathetic. And the ending was so vague that I sat there going "Are you effing kidding me?!". Sure the problem was resolved but it still didn't make any sense on how/why it happened.
