Plot
About two years after meeting Thor (the Asgardian "god" of lightning), scientist Jane Foster has been searching for a way to get back in touch with him. She finds herself in a portal of sorts where items thrown into it may or may not return. Supposedly, there is an alignment of the nine realms where these portals pop up between the realms.
Jane accidentally teleports to a different realm where the Aether (a power to convert matter into dark matter) had been locked away by the Asgardians a long time ago, when the Asgardians fought against the Dark Elves [supposedly all killed]. Surprise surprise, when the Aether binds with Jane, the surviving Dark Elves emerge to search for the Aether. Since Thor brought Jane back to Asgard (only to find the Aether killing her), the Dark Elves come to Asgard to take Jane. Their intent is to gain control of the Aether, wait until the nine realms align, and cause darkness to fall over all of the realms.
Can Thor save Jane from the Aether? Can he trust his brother Loki enough to get help from him? Can Thor protect all of the realms?
Rating Criteria
0/5 – No value whatsoever. Absolute waste of time.
1/5 – Barely worth any time.
2/5 – Pathetic but has a bit of something to hold the attention a little.
3/5 – Somewhat kept the attention but could definitely have used more.
4/5 – Good, but not awe-strikingly amazing. Could have maybe used a bit more to the movie.
5/5 – Go see it! Wonderful movie all around. – characters, music, theme, story line, etc.
4/5 - I was glad to see Thor back with Jane and the plot (though why the hell do they risk Jane's life to make her more central to the plot?) was decent. It was good to see Chris Hemsworth back in action as Thor as well as Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
I mostly downgrade the rating because of the way they portray Jane (poor victim) and the sappy romance between the two of them. I mean, it was good to see the two back together but at the same time it was slightly nauseating. Oh, and *spoilers* it sucks that both Odin and Frigga were killed.
Not a bad movie and somewhat recommended. Seems like Loki was a fair bonus for this movie, honestly, and had the most "improvement" as a character. I personally would watch it again but it isn't in my top 10 for movies to rewatch.
That's my review. Thanks for reading! More movie reviews to come eventually.
