Plot
Wakanda - a country that appears to the world as a 3rd world African country. Turns out that it actually is an advanced technological country with the ability to cloak their ships, remote driving vehicles, etc. They have a protector named the Black Panther, a super blessed by their spirits. The question, though: does T'Challa (son of the recently murdered king) have the right to be the next king? When his cousin Erik Killmonger comes to Wakanda, that is the main issue. Who will be the king? Who will be the Black Panther? How can the power of the Wakandans be hidden from the world or should the world know how advanced they are?

Rating Criteria
0/5 – No value whatsoever. Absolute
waste of time.
1/5 – Barely worth any time.
2/5 – Pathetic but has a bit of
something to hold the attention a little.
3/5 – Somewhat kept the attention but
could definitely have used more.
4/5 – Good, but not awe-strikingly
amazing. Could have maybe used a bit more to the movie.
5/5 – Go see it! Wonderful movie all
around. – characters, music, theme, story line, etc.
3/5 - *SPOILERS*
Another Marvel movie. There were great characters but the plot was kinda pathetic: fight for the throne and debate on whether we should show our true selves to the world or not. That was about it.
This movie was Spider-man (super hero stepping up to the challenge?) meets Lion King (African / should I really be king / how do I follow the advice of the past kings?) meets Bond (super tech for your mission!). The use of a flower that makes a drug to initiate a dream sequence [Avatar much?] was kinda ridiculous, especially since Killmonger decided to burn all of the flowers but somehow someone was able to grab one. Like dude, Killmonger, don't you want to have a son that could take up the throne after you or would you rather just destroy the country? I guess you don't care about the future and just want to secure your present authority.... Wow.
The tech in this movie, and the sister Shuri stepping up as the tech advisor, was the best thing in this movie. Shuri just made me smile so much. I love her. Her character was so well thought out and well acted. She saved the movie rating from falling below 3, honestly.
If there were more characters like Shuri, I would have definitely have rated this movie higher. If she hadn't been in the movie, I would have definitely have rated it lower. Characters should be like her, even if they are secondary characters, instead of the old "here's your gear" bland statement folk. I mean like Vanessa in "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" seems to try to sell the gear to him (especially the toothpaste) but she doesn't have the character that Shuri has in Black Panther:
Anyways, for a super hero movie, this one is lame in my opinion. Take away Shuri, the women fighters, and the technology, this movie and plot line is NOTHING. It is a big ball of "let's show off the technology". Give me "Captain America: The First Avenger" or "Iron Man" or "The Avengers" any day over this!
I did want to see it because the stuff might prove necessary for the other movies (since all Marvel movies link together) but I don't think that I will be watching this one again. As it stands [as of 5/9/2020], I still have to watch the new Hulk, Iron Man 2 & 3, Avengers: End Game, Civil War, Winter Soldier, Thor: Ragnarok, Deadpool 1 & 2, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Infinity War, and all of the new Spider-Man movies. So yeah, Black Panther is not going to be re-watched anytime soon, I think...
That's my movie review. Thanks for reading!
