Movie Review: "Krampus: The Christmas Devil" 2013

This is a movie review for "Krampus", released in 2013. I watched this on December 25, 2019 via Tubi.

I could not find the real release date of this movie because IMDB had no information about this movie until about 2017, though it says that it was released in 2013. I ended up finding the Facebook page of "Krampus: The Christmas Devil" and scrolled all the way back to 2013 where they were talking about the movie being released. Actual date? Not sure... So I'll leave it at 2013.

Genre: Action, Horror, Thriller
Run Time: 1 Hour and 22 Minutes

Official MPAA Rating (According to IMDB.com):
G / General Audiences
PG / Parental Guidance Suggested
PG-13 / Parents Strongly Cautioned
R / Restricted
X
Not Rated
IMDB.com does not have a rating posted for this movie, for some reason. I would guess R/Restricted.

Trailer

I had a hard time finding this trailer... Most of the YouTube videos were for other Krampus movies.

Notable Cast

Samantha Hoepfl ... Heather Duffin
A.J. Leslie ... Jeremy Duffin
Erica Soto ... Rebecca Duffin

Plot

Naughty or nice - Santa Claus determines how the children have done throughout the year. If they aren't good enough, Krampus (Santa Claus' brother) kidnaps them, throws them in a burlap sack, and beats them up. Most of the time, the kids never return.

Jeremy was one of these children back when he was a kid. He managed to escape but has been piecing together a case against the yearly kidnapper. Can he stop the kidnapper before more children disappear?

Rating Criteria
0/5 – No value whatsoever. Absolute waste of time.
1/5 – Barely worth any time.
2/5 – Pathetic but has a bit of something to hold the attention a little.
3/5 – Somewhat kept the attention but could definitely have used more.
4/5 – Good, but not awe-strikingly amazing. Could have maybe used a bit more to the movie.
5/5 – Go see it! Wonderful movie all around. – characters, music, theme, story line, etc.

1.5/5 - Very low quality movie. Not a very good timeline and it doesn't really dig into the Krampus legend except "whoah, kids are going missing on Christmas Eve". Nothing really stands out as amazing or super interesting. I would bypass this movie, if I were you. I have heard the other Krampus movies are MUCH better but that's sometimes what you get when you watch a low budget movie.

I was disappointed in this movie. Waste of viewing time, honestly, in my opinion. If they had dug more into the legend or gave it deeper plot meaning, then this might be something to suggest but nope.

According to IMDB, this movie is so pathetic that the rating is at a 1.6/10 with 1,593 ratings. Like wow.... Bypass it unless you dare to watch this pathetic movie. There are SO many more horror movies that are better than this, even in the B movie category.

Anyways, that's my movie review. Thanks for reading! More reviews to come eventually.
